A double chin can come from genetics, weight changes, natural aging, or a combination of all three. Some patients develop submental fullness at a healthy weight simply because of how their body stores fat, which is why diet and exercise do not always resolve it on their own.

It depends on whether your main concern is fat, loose skin, or both. Kybella is generally recommended for excess fat under the chin, while TempSure or FlexSure may help with skin laxity. Many patients benefit from combining the two, which we can discuss during a consultation.

Kybella can cause swelling, bruising, or numbness under the chin for a few days after each session, and most patients return to normal activities right away. TempSure and FlexSure typically involve little to no downtime. We will walk you through what to expect for your specific treatment plan.

Once fat cells are broken down with Kybella, they are not expected to store fat in the same way again, though results and how long they last can vary by patient. Maintaining a stable weight helps support your results. Skin tightening treatments like TempSure may need periodic maintenance sessions.
